Description
CVG is the most popular bulk substrate for growing actives.
Our CVG mix is ready for use and comes in a bag that can also double as a fruiting chamber. Of course you can also use a shoebox fruiting chamber or a mono tub.
What is CVG?
CVG stands for Coco coir, Vermiculite and Gypsum. While mushrooms can be grown on coco coir by itself, the vermiculite and gypsum will provide extra minerals and aeration. The gypsum in CVG will also slightly raise the ph level. This benefits the mushrooms. Your culture will love CVG.
Why Use CVG?
Properly hydrated CVG gives your mushrooms a ‘matrix’ to grow in. Since CVG does not contain a lot of nutrients, by itself it will not contaminate quicly. If made properly, CVG will provide an aerobic substrate for your mycelium to colonize. Once it’s been fully colonized, it provides your mushrooms with a base to fruit on. Our CVG has been sterilized at 121 degrees celsius and is always perfectly hydrated. So you can store it and use it whenever you need it.
How To Use CVG?
The CVG substrate mix is ready for use. All you need to do is mix in your fully colonized grain spawn in your choice of fruiting chamber. Please make sure that your grain spawn has fully matured and does not show any signs of contamination before using it with our CVG. For best results, use a 1-to-1 ratio of CVG and spawn and mix it very well. Properly mixing spawn and CVG will promote faster colonization of your CVG bulk substrate.
